Uhm, oops?

So, I have not posted here in a while, and there have been various obstacles in my path that have been partially responsible (working and school, then just working too much, needing new batteries for my camera, etc) but mostly, I have been lazy. It's on me. So, I have a few pictures of things I made this last year I should get posted before we end up too far into the new year:

Pattern: Elaine's Blouse (ravelry link)
Yarn: Handspun from my aunt Kathy, from her sheep out in Eastern WA. Dyed with wolfmoss for yellow, overdyed with indigo to make green.
Needles: US6.
Notes: I did this pattern almost exactly as written (except for the unintentional modifications, but we won't mention those). I love how this sweater fits me. However, this yarn is super warm so I get a bit overheated if I wear it inside for too long. It's wonderful for wearing outside, or layered underneath something for extra warmth. I finished the knitting for this during the summer, but it took me until November to finish it up. Motivation to show off on Thanksgiving is what got my butt moving. At least it's done now.

Pattern: Swallowtail Shawl
Yarn: Rowan Felted Tweed 2 skiens + a little
Needles: US6
Notes: Followed the pattern exactly. Glad I had an extra skien of this color floating about, as I like many others who have knit this pattern in this yarn have needed just a little bit of a 3rd skien. I love how this feels, the yarn and the pattern are beautiful. I need to get better pictures sometime, but as I am awake all night (thank you graveyard! :-P) and there is very little daylight right now as is, it's tough.

Pattern: En Plein Air Handspun Beret
Yarn: Manos Del Uruguay Wool Clasica
Needles: US10
Notes: This is the first of two hats I knit for Nick out of this pattern. The second has yet to be captured in pictures. I'll have to work on that. It's basically the same thing in a different color, but much bigger to hold all his hair. He has a LOT of hair! He loves these hats and I love that he loves funky colors, and is man enough to wear them on his head.

That's all the FOs I have for now. I completely neglected to take pictures of most of my Yule/xmas gifts. They were mostly quick scarves and hats anyways, Branching Out and Dayflower are my go-to scarves for quick and pretty gifts.

I DO have pics of a Yule gift yet to be finished:

The body of a sweater. I've just got to do the sleeves, attach them and knit the yoke. Not too much more. And no more ridiculous colorwork! I know it doesn't LOOK that bad, but all the yarn for that tree got so damn tangled ALL THE TIME, it took so very long. It is done now, and I can move on to the easy parts.

So much knitting, so little blogging

Well, I should probably document the knitting I've done recently (that is, in the last several months). I'm home with a horrid sickness that is making my head pound and my nose red. Ick. So, I have naught but time. I'll start with the yule presents I actually got pictures of:

Pattern: Hackey Sack Hoodie from Son of Stitch and Bitch
Yarn: Hempwol by Hemp for Knitting, 35% Hemp, 65% Wool, 4 skiens green 1 skien black
Needles: US 8
Mods: My brother is tiny, so I had to make this thing MUCH smaller. The funny thing is that my gauge was WAY off after I started so I ended up just increasing the same amount for the body as for the smallest size in the book, but it ended up much smaller. It fits me, if a bit tightly in the chest area. Not surprising, I do have boobs.
Notes: For Yule, but finished a bit late. He got it when the family came up for my birthday.

Pattern: Self-designed
Yarn: Regia Design Line by Kaffe Fassett
Needles: US 1 DPNs.
Notes: Knitted up pretty fast, even finished early for Yule. I wish I had got a picture of him wearing them, as by now they are very pilly and dirty. He wears them a lot. I will probably have to make him another pair sometime.

I knitted so much more this last holiday season, but didn't have time to get pictures of most of it! I knit something for EVERYONE on my mom's side. A couple very cute hats for my female cousins, a lace scarf for an aunt, leg warmers for another aunt, neck warmer for my grandma, and 7 hats that were almost the same for everyone else. I didn't put down the needles much in December. Finished a scarf for my mom a couple days after giftmas, and unpinned a Branching Out for my cousin on my dad's side the day of giftmas. It was hectic.

This is about all I have time for right now. A very kind gentleman (my bf) just came in with food. I'll get to the rest of the stuff soon. I promise.

2 FOs and such

I finished two cardigans within a week of each other. And then failed to blog about them. Silly me! Well, here they are, in order of creation:

Pattern: $1.50 Cardigan by Veronik Avery from the 2007 Spring IK
Yarn: Elann Endless Summer Luna 5039, this lovely olive green color that they don't seem to have any more
Needles: Size 5s mostly, with 4s for the reverse stockinette sections
Mods: nothing, really, except for places where I kind of ignored what the pattern actually said and are not really mods so much as just subtle differences.
How long was I working on this? An embarrassing amount of time, really.
This is now my FAVORITE sweater. It's so nice and cool and perfect for those slightly chilly days. It looks lovely with everything, esp. browns. It fits very nicely, if a wee bit tight. Oh well. It's still perfect.

Pattern: Cropped cardigan with leaf ties by Stephanie Japel in Fitted Knits
Yarn: Cascade Sierra, two skiens black one skien blue
Needles: size 6
Mods: the sleeves are shorter b/c I ran out of black yarn. I also knit a size smaller than I am b/c this yarn stretches. And it is still stretching and refuses to stay on my shoulders. I think I need to wash this and see if it fits better later. It's way too cute to not wear.

And so, with two sweaters down I need a new project. I thought of working on this:

But it's a bit too complicated for in-class work, which is what I need right now to not go insane in most of my classes this quarter, so I'm thinking of starting some socks with this:

Seattle Mariner's Sock yarn. yessssss please. It is ridonkulously soft and the colors are very pretty. At this rate, the only projects I'll ever get done are the ones I can work on in class!

I have been neglecting this poor blog.

Wow. Well, hopefully I'll have more time to devote to crafting and posting said craftings. I just found out about this:

and I'm planning on doing it. Even though I bought shit on the 1st. It was for a good cause, though. But I am NOT going to buy anything other than food and necessities for the rest of the month. No frivolous spending! I am going to use what I have!

I don't honestly think I have that bad a problem with spending, but I have far too many things already. Too much yarn mostly, with not enough using of the yarn. So I also plan to knit more. LOTS more. I promise. I will hopefully have something to show off pretty soon.

College has been eating my soul. I need to claim it back

And so, I do something I've been wanting to do for a good long while but haven't had the energy to accomplish: post to my blog. I haven't posted as I haven't had much to post about lately. I haven't been knitting all that much, but I have finished something:

Pattern: $5 in Paris with modifications. I set it up the same and then went from there, adding shaping and making the sleeves longer.
Yarn: Moda Dea Sassy Stripes in Polo. I love this yarn, it clashes with itself so I can wear it with everything!
Needles: US 6. I found my gauge was WAY too big with the 9's suggested.

I also did my make up today:

I rather liked it. I'm enjoying the pop of the liner on the waterline. So fun!

In other news, I've found out my kitty Dante has been getting into fights as of late and had some nasty gashes. He now has to wear the cone of embarrassment:

Long, long week

So, I am freely admitting that I am falling short of my goal of posting twice a week. In my defense, I will point out that my classes have been ridiculous lately and will probably continue to be for a while. Psych 303 is just picking up steam. I have to design my own experiment by Thursday, tweak it to perfection in the following weeks, write the intro to my research paper, and then run the experiment, compile data, analyze it, and write the rest of my paper. Oh, and then there's my other classes with various papers and reading assignments.

So, I am resigning myself to maybe not living up to my goal of posting for the time being. I will post when I have something to post about. I need to take pics of a couple WIPs anyways and share them. One is looking particularly lovely and it's making me excited.

First time out at a bar

I wish I had pictures, but all I can do for you is tell you how fun it was. I went to the local gay bar Rumors, got in free b/c it was close enough to my birthday, and got my friend to buy me a Red-headed slut (delicious). I danced for a couple hours and hung out with people. Got picked up (and shaken) by a drunk gay guy who also made unseemly suggestions were I interested in a particular action, haha. Oh my, it was fun. My makeup looked spectacular even after dancing for a while, and I wish I had gotten pictures but I needed sleep when I got home.

Yay for gay bars and being old enough to go to one. Now back to homework.

I'm dangerously close to already failing one resolution...

But I have a good excuse! Classes started this week, AND I turned 21 two days ago! So, yes, I have been running around having a good time. And going to class and attempting to start my homework. It's been hectic. I don't really have anything to share except the pretty pretty makeup I did on my birthday:

The color of the eyeshadow ended up muddier than I really wanted it. I ended up getting a smear of one of the many black products I used in the middle of the pink and I couldn't remove it without removing everything so I just smeared it and did my best to make the other eye match. I still think it looks good. My hair looked fabulous, though.

I haven't been knitting much, but I started a pair of socks. I'll probably post a pic here soon. In the mean time, I think I shall do some yoga before I go out to a party tonight. My back hurts like a bitch and I think stretching will do some good.

First post of '08, last FO of '07

Well, I promised I'd post here at least twice a week and this is my last opportunity to do so and not fail my resolution within the first few days of '08. Thankfully I do have things to share, like the scarf I knit my aunt:

Sorry I don't have any in-action pictures, I basically unpinned it moments before I ran out the door to catch the bus to send it out 1/2 an hour before the post office closed.

So, last Christmas my aunt had her hubby pay me $100 to make a scarf exactly like the one I was wearing. I said I would, of course. For a lace scarf that would take me around 15+ hours that's a deal I would only give to family.
-The yarn is from my aunt (errr....my dad's cousin but practically my aunt) Kathy who raises sheep, spins the wool and dyes it with natural dyes (for this yarn, it was wolf moss for yellow over dyed with indigo). My aunts are all in love with this yarn (and so am I!). It still smells like sheep and has a LOT of lanolin in it, which makes it a bit hard to work with and waterproof and WARM.
-The pattern is just a Tunisian Lace Insertion I found with a garter stitch border since the pattern itself is all knit with no purl rows.
-I used size 8 needles to make the pattern more open.

My dad was amazing for x-mas and he talked to Kathy and got me MORE yarn:

More wolfmoss/indigo and some just indigo. Enough for a sweater. I was just amazed when I saw it all. It smells soooo nice. I have plans for this yarn, oh yes I have plans:

Resolutions for the New Year

I really should make some resolutions because, although this year has been pretty good and I'm not all that disappointed in my lazy arse ;-), there are improvements to be made.

1. CRAFT MORE. Like, srsly, I should really spend far less time on LJ/craftster/Ravelry/Neopets/etc and more time actually doing something.
2. I want to post here at least twice a week. I'll need to keep up on #1 so I have stuff to post! I love it when goals work together.
3. Keep my yarn buying down. I did well last year with my no-yarn-for-a-year thing. I only bought enough for two projects (one of which is about 1/2 done) and only a couple skiens of sock yarn. Oh, and stuff for projects for other people, but that doesn't count. I have plans for a particular yarn acquisition shortly after the beginning of the year to reward myself, but after that I think I shall follow these rules:
*Before I buy any new yarn, I need to finish a project with yarn that is at least a year old
*STOP BUYING SOCK YARN at least until I finish a couple pairs of socks.
*Finish one of the complicated projects before any major yarn acquisitions (that is, before I go out and buy enough for a sweater/stole/something else large).

I think I can do this. Not quite as restrictive as last year, but now I have rewards for meeting some of my goals. Let's see if I can stick to it!

So, my mom FINALLY decided to put on the vest I made and pose for a picture with me:

So, I guess I should give you some info on this
Pattern: Tori from Magknits
Yarn: Swish DK from Knitpicks.com 7 skiens
needles: US 4
Notes: knit in the round, and used only one type of yarn. Cast on for the ribbing first and just continued up for the body. Didn't see any point in picking up for the ribbing at the bottom as I was knitting it all in one yarn. Other than that, I followed the pattern pretty closely.

My aunt Sandy finally emailed my dad and my dad finally emailed me the pics from Thanksgiving and here's a much better picture of me in my vest:

If anyone asks, that's sparkling cider in that wine glass, mmk? Not quite 21 yet (a week and a half!!)

I need to snap some pics of the yarn my dad got me for xmas. It's gorgeous and squishy. Oh, and I need to block the scarf for my aunt Sally. I need to get off my bum and do some work!

It's just all been Christmas-related for my family, who tend to be a bit camera-shy. I did manage to get a couple shots of my bro wearing his new fingerless gloves:

Seeing as Christmas just passed I should mention all the awesome things I got. Handspun yarn from my aunt in blue and green (I WILL take pictures and post here, but maybe later) and some Opal sock yarn, which is already on the needles to possibly become knee-highs, though I'm not 100% sure I have enough yarn. We shall see. I also got a HUGE spice rack that I'm incredibly excited for. Also, a new paring knife and a sharpener, so I can now sharpen my favorite chopping knife. I also got a ton of food in the form of a giant bag of rice and a box of granola bits. Yum. I'm supposed to get one more gift from my cousin Jessica, but apparently it was forgotten and still at her house. I'm not incredibly concerned, but everyone else thought it was a tragedy. At least I have some fodder to make fun of her for a while?

I also just finished a scarf for my aunt but it requires some intense blockage. I may get it to her today so she can block it, and the only pictures I will have will be pre-blockage, if not it will be taken to my apartment and blocked and multiple pictures will be taken and posted all up in here. I have a feeling she'd rather have me block it, seeing as she paid me a bunch for it and it's already late another week won't hurt.

In the next couple days I'll be posting my new years resolutions. I've been working them out in my head, figuring out what I really need to be doing this year. I'm sure it will be fascinating.

Productive weekend

I baked pumpkin cookies:

This pile got bigger, then got smaller pretty rapidly. These are quite yummy!

I used a recipe on Vegweb, Who Knew It Was Vegan Pumpkin Cookies. I'm not a vegan nor do I think I will ever be, but my roommate is and I wanted to try out a vegan recipe. I know I can bake normally, do my skills stand up to the Vegan test? Well, if these cookies are any indication, I would say so.

I also finished a cardigan yesterday. The one I started last week, with a deadline of today to send out tomorrow. I am insane, yes, but I have mad skillz, ya know, and pulled through:

Did I mention last week was finals week? Yeah, uhm, multi-tasking and not sleeping are hobbies of mine.

I'm a bad swap partner

So I received my package from my Ravelry Scarf Swap partner AGES ago, and I took pictures right away but I didn't post them! Shame on me! My partner was Bowcolors, and she spoiled me ROTTON. I should show off all the lovely things I received:

So that's everything. It seems when I don't have time to do anything is when I do everything. Next week is finals week, and I need to study like crazy. But what do I do? Post on my blog, and then start a cardigan for my cousin that needs to be finished in, oh, like a week. I also went and took pics of some of my WIPs. That list has changed since the last time I posted it here. Perhaps a new one is in order? Progress report? Tomorrow, perhaps. Sleep tonight.

Old UFO finally becomes an FO

So, I started this silly thing last September and I finally finished this on Thanksgiving so I could wear it to see family. I didn't bring my camera to my parent's home with me, however. I brought home my camera cord and extra batteries for it, but the camera didn't quite make it into the bag (when I got back to my apartment I saw my camera sitting right next to where my bag was while packing. *sigh*)

But I finally felt motivated enough to put this thing back on and take pics:

Here's the specs:
Pattern: Fair-Isle U-neck pullover in VK Fall '06
Yarn: hand spun from my aunt Kathy. She raises sheep and spins yarn with the wool and dyes it with natural dyes. The dyes used for these colors were cochineal, madder root, indigo, and log wood, with some natural black sheep in there. This yarn has lots of lanolin in it (esp the black sheep, it's sticky which is why there isn't much of it in the sweater) which makes it super warm. It's also relatively waterproof, but that's not all that important in a vest.
Needles: US 5s for the body and 4s for the ribbing. Same as in the pattern.
Mods: I did it in the round (only someone crazy would knit this flat, the loose ends! Oh my the loose ends!) and I left off the sleeves and just picked up stitches and matched the collar. I also ended up with fewer stitches for the neckline than specified, but it doesn't seem to have mattered much. Everything else is pretty much the same.

I got SO many compliments on this at thanksgiving, mostly cause I was seeing all my aunts who are friends with Kathy (who's not so much my aunt as my dad's cousin but I call her aunt anyways). Yay for finally finishing things! I'm also blocking a scarf right now but it's for a swap so I can't show it off just yet, but I promise I will!

It is official, I am a Capricorn. Totally and utterly.

Updating my Etsy, finally

So, it occurred to me that my Etsy has been criminally neglected. If it were a child, a social worker would have taken it away from me long ago. I WILL do better! As a start, here are the new things I put up:

Yay napkin rings. This idea has been on the back burner since, oh, last thanksgiving. I'm glad I have at least one set made. Hopefully in my extra time this next week I'll get even more done.

I have more to put up but I'm a bit sick of putting up with my internet connection being fussy with etsy. I also went back and edited a bunch of items and MAN do I not want to keep doing that.

Back from a Pagan weekend

So, I went to Hekate's Sickle this weekend put on by the ATC. The ATC is the Aquarian Tabernacle Church, one of the biggest if not the biggest Wiccan church in North America. They put on festivals twice a year, Spring Mysteries around Easter/Ostara and Hekate's Sickle around Halloween/Samhain. They also do rituals every two weeks for full moon and new moon. There are some amazing people involved in this church, including a good friend of mine. So many people have dedicated their lives to this church, and it's so awe inspiring and makes me want to dedicate my own life to the church.

Anyways, Sickle. A Celtic death festival. I cried like a baby. I lusted after Gods. I was scared out of my wits. I was hit by the cosmic Clue-by-four. I was amazed. I was exhausted. I loved it all. I'm still recuperating. It doesn't feel right being back in the real world yet. I want to go back.

I did get knitting done this weekend. Finished a scarf for a swap, it's not sent off yet so I can't post it. I need to finish one of the big projects I'm working on soon. I feel I have stagnated because I never sit down and knit anymore, it's all on the go so I do easy projects and none of the complex stuff, all the lace and color work and sweaters, never get worked on! I must be true to myself and the responsibilities I have undertaken for myself and should finish some of these things soon. I feel like I'm letting myself down again and again when I look at my WIPs sitting around my room. This owning up to my responsibilities thing came from Sickle and I need to get off my ass and do what's right for myself, 'cause it's actually creating anxiety leaving things unfinished.

I'm also currently looking for a job to live up to the promises I made to my father. I'm finishing my ISP (independent study project) to live up to the promises I made to adviser and more importantly myself. I'm inviting my brother up this weekend to treat others like I would like to be treated, giving him a warm place to sleep and treating him as a guest. In short, I am living up to my responsibilities, or at least trying to and making myself feel bad enough about failing to get my ass in motion (though not bad enough to make myself depressed).

Last night was also the first time anyone drank a sizable portion of the wine I'm making. It's not quite wine yet, but I took some out for the after-ritual potluck. Apparently people liked it cause that bottle is all gone. We have plenty more that we're going to leave until it is as fermented as possible.

I have two midterms and a quiz this friday. What do I do today? I (almost) finish my corset (it needs bias tape but I have not the patience for such things right now). This has been sitting around for YEARS now. I took a class at Pacific Fabrics back in high school. And the corset still fits, albeit a bit tighter than it would have back then. Here are the pics I just couldn't wait to take:

This will be part of my Halloween costume this year. I got a bug up my butt about using it and so I just had to finish. I also procured a petticoat and bloomers. I'm excited. Now to read for sociology.

So, I just went grocery shopping, and I bought a big tub of Pumpkin ice cream with the full knowledge that I would be eating the entire thing by myself (seeing as my roomie is vegan) just because I was craving pumpkin ice cream and they were out of the fancier version that comes by the pint.

I don't feel bad.

I completely forgot to post about the fact that my roommate and I are making wine. Blackberry wine, with berries we got dirty and sticky and sweaty picking, braving spider bites and sunburns to collect them all. OK, it's not that bad and I actually love picking berries with all my soul. It's almost a compulsion at this point. So, two weeks ago I was in the kitchen doing this:

yum yum. At this point, it's just berries. We added yeast plus sugar water and let it sit in that big pot for a week then a week ago we put more sugar water in it and put it in this:

A Carlo Rossi jug donated by my boyfriend (aint he sweet?) There it shall stay until this saturday when much is to be done. The wine will move back to the pot shortly, the jug will be cleaned, the wine will be put back in the jug, more water will have sugar added to it, and it will be poured in and then we will wait for an unspecified time until it stops fermenting. I'm excited. I can't stop staring at it. I'm completely fascinated. Oh yeah, we used this recipe for the wine

So, today was the first day if Info Fair, which is the big huge tabling extravaganza that occurs every year two days before the start of the school year. All organizations and clubs and a few local stores are out, giving away mad amounts of free stuff. I got a yoyo that lights up (it amuses me greatly. I wish I were better at it) and a frisbee I will never use. I got a waterbottle, warming flavored lotion, condoms, candy, mints and lots and lots of pens.

I came home and checked the mail and found 4 free samples of various things. Cereal, a "food bar", parchment paper, and some facial cleanser. I have more free stuff than I can handle. It's all terribly exciting for me the poor starving college student. And I LOVE IT.

In other news I have completely failed to take pictures and share my latest yarn acquisitions. These are notable because I am on a year-long yarn diet and I have done pretty damned good up until now, only cheating-but-not-really-because-it-doesn't-count on some sock yarn, cheap yarn from thrift stores, and yarn for projects for other people. I think I'll still keep up the effort to keep the yarn buying to a minimum after the year is over, and may come up with some other way to curb the appetite, like maybe a "must finish two projects before buying yarn for another one" type deal (hats and mittens and other such small objects will only count as 1/2 a project). I think this sounds good to me.

More than meets the eye

So, Svend's birthday is coming up and I've already knit him a hat, but I came up with this BRILLIANT idea to glass etch the Transformers logo on to cups. When we went to see the new movie he was all indignant when they got things wrong, immediately knew who all the transformers were, and basically squeed all over himself. I figured he'd go ape-shit if I did this.

Well, I did two of those tonight, one the main logo, one the decepticons logo. Here they are:

They're imperfect (one of the decepticon's jowels is MUCH bigger than the other one) but I still think he'll love them.

Sooo.....my roommate is the only reason I am sane.

I could not for the life of me find a skien of yarn I desperately need for the toe of a pair of socks I'm knitting for my brother. I searched ALL OVER MY ROOM (perk: my room is now cleaner than it was and better organized) and all over the living room. I was going out of my mind. Then, my roommate very nonchalantly says "could you have put it in your desk? Hiding it from the cat?" So, I pick a drawer, and look in, and what is staring up at me? The skien I've been pulling my hair out trying to find.

I swear I'd lose myself if it weren't for my roomie. Her name is Jamie, and she's pretty awesome. I should knit her something cool one of these days.

So, I have realized I have way too many WIPs and some of them have become UFOs because of it. I realized that in my WIP post I forgot to write about the Print O' the Wave shawl I've been neglecting, and that is just a testament to how far it's been pushed to the side. Even though I'm a bit over my head, I have started a new project, a hat for Svend. This needs to be finished ASAP since his birthday is coming up. I also ripped out and reknit what I had done of the socks for my bro, and I'm close to finishing the first one, though I should be done by now.

I have, in all honesty, 5 WIPs and 3 UFOs. Oi. I need to finish something already. The hat could be finished really quickly if I tried, so could the socks for my bro. Oh, then I need to start a scarf for a swap. Ugh. There's something wrong with me. Should I make a "finish by" timeline for the WIPs? I think I should.

1. Socks for my bro: ASAP
2. Hat for Svend: Sep. 25th
3. Scarf for Swap (not yet a WIP): Dec. 2nd
4. Dollar and a half cardigan: before the end of fall, preferably
5. Vest for mom: Christmas
6. Fairisle vest for me (UFO): Christmas (I want to wear it that day)
7. Print o the wave stole (UFO): SOON!! DAMNIT!!
8. Monkey Socks: whenever, not a big deal.
9: Pasha the penguin: on who knows, it's already a two year old UFO.

Bumbershoot time

Time for me to stop being lazy and to write about Bumbershoot. I went two days, saw way more bands the first day but managed to forget my camera. Sigh. Oh well. I'll try and describe what I saw.

First day:
The Cops - Seattle band that I saw in B'ham last year. Played at 12:45, very early. They did kick ass. The crowd wasn't that into it, but, well, it was early. The old hippie guy was around (he's at everything I swear) though no one was dancing with him this time.
The Shins - in the main stage, packed solid. Were pretty awesome. Left early to go see...
Mae - in the exhibition hall (which usually fills up super-fast). They were pretty good, didn't exactly rock the house but played a fun show.
The Pharmacy - only saw them for a short time, Svend wasn't impressed and neither was I.
Common Market - only caught part of their show, sounded fun, got the crowd going. However, no comparison for.....
Gogol Bordello - holy shit. Best. Show. Ever. So much fun, so much dancing. I had started to feel shitty, feet and back hurt, but it all seemed to go away while I danced. All came back right after they finished, though. Heh.

The next day the first band we saw was Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and I got pictures this time:

That last one was taken shortly after the guitar died and the bass player and drummer were playing by themselves. They got everything working again soon and were awesome.

Saw Bouncing Souls, didn't take pictures of them. Left early to get into a comedy show (which we didn't get into despite being an hour early. Sigh)

Went to Bumbershoot yesterday and the day before. I only have a few pics from yesterday, as I forgot my camera the first day. We'll see if I can't get the pics off of my phone. However, I am long overdo for a post of camping pics, so here they are:

Back from camping

I went camping over the weekend at Colonial Creek camp site in the middle of the north cascades, went hiking, watched a great chicken fight on a log, ate a lot of really good food and got rained out overnight. We left yesterday morning before 8. Both tents we used leaked, and everyone wanted to go home. Other than that, it was very good times. I spent most of yesterday at the bf's, napping and recuperating. I have many pictures to share. I'll post them soon.

WIP day

So here's everything I can find that I'm either working on right now or is unfinished and is sitting around my room:

The most active project, a vest for my mom. Not to say my mom is really big or anything, but she's bigger than me and I keep looking at this thing and getting the feeling that something has gone horribly wrong with my gauge, then I remember. "This will never fit me.......and it's not supposed to"

The back of the Dollar and a Half Cardigan. I left the magazine at my parent's house so I can't really work on the rest of it right now. The color of this yarn doesn't photograph well. It's a beautiful almost army-green color with brown. The drape is amazing. This cardigan will be super-cute. Now for close-ups of the stitch pattern:

U-Neck pullover (though it's only going to be a vest). Yarn from my aunt Kathy. Not my colors at all but I love them anyways. I need to pick this silly thing up again. I'm afraid of the loose ends, though. *shivers* Close-ups:

Sock for my bro. Knitpicks Essential. Not sure if they'll fit him, they're looking awful small. Hopefully I can get him to try them on in the near future.

I just need to finish this silly thing. It's been a UFO for 2 years now. It's for a geeky friend.

Now back to knitting. Maybe airing my dirty laundry will motivate me to do something about it? Let's hope.

So I meant to update today about all my WIPs, maybe motivate myself to work on them. But I ended up taking a 4 1/2 hour nap in the middle of the day then lazing about doing nothing. Sock garters! So freaking cute I can't stand it. They work so well with these socks.

Introductory Post

First post here! Hooray!

Hopefully I'll post to this more often than I post to the other blog I made. I think I will.

There is MUCH to say as of late. I've gotten several packages in the mail recently, all stuff I need to take pictures of. I just got a package today from home containing my camera, which I had forgotten, so pictures will come. For now I'll post my most recently completed knitted item, Unst socks!

I posted these elsewhere, but here are the specs:
Pattern: Unst from Knitting on the Road by Nancy Bush
Yarn: Knit picks Gloss, two skiens
Needles: 1s for the leg and 0s for the ankle and foot.
Mods: did ribbing pattern all the way down to keep them nice and tight, I guess I did the foot differently cause I wasn't paying attention to the pattern but I don't care, and I did a standard toe instead of the 5-point one.
Notes: One of these stays up really well, the other doesn't (go figure) so I bought sock garters (which I will take pictures of later) to help them stay up.
